1. Nice, but "infinity pool" color was not what I expected
This is a nice cover and fits the new Kindle perfectly. It wasn't too heavy, but had enough padding to protect the Kindle. I like the way the "grip" feels on the sides of the the cover.

I ordered this in the "infinity pool" color. I am actually sending it back because the actual color looked a lot darker than the image on the website. It looks like a dark turquoise color, and I was expecting a sea-foam green from the way the pictures looked. I will probably re-order this in the black or the pink.

2. Too big, but works
The sleeve seems pretty sturdy. The zipper is a coated non-scratch plastic and there's a fabric "bead" which lines case so that the kindle doesn't actually come into contact with the zipper. So no scratches. My issue is that it isn't snug enough - it's too large in all three dimensions by about .25 inch and the kindle slides around. For 25 dollars and "made for kindle", I would have preferred a better fit. The 'grip' plastic also seems gimmicky, but we all knew that when ordering... :-)

I am going to compare this to the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover.

The MarBlue Atlas cover feels cheaper with a smooth almost vinyl feel to the cover. The Amazon cover has a magnet which secures the case closed while the MarBlue cover has an elastic strap to keep the book closed. The Amazon cover automatically turns the kindle on and off when the cover is opened or closed while the Marblue cover does not.

The cover is sturdy enough and folds open for one handed reading. There is a handy strap which keeps the flap secure when reading one handed which is better than the amazon leather cover. Also, there is a hand strap which makes one handed reading easier than the Amazon cover.

The MarBlue cover weighs less than the amazon leather cover which is nicer when reading one handed.

Overall, I would say that the MarBlue cover for the Paperwhite is better for reading one handed but the Amazon leather cover is higher quality fit and...

No AutoWake, but otherwise, it's a very nice case
When I bought the original Paperwhite in the fall of 2012, I also bought the Amazon leather cover, and I've been very pleased with it, so much so that I'm using the same cover for the new 2013 Paperwhite. It looks good, it holds the Paperwhite very securely, and it has a little magnet that serves double duty - keeping the cover securely closed and activating the AutoWake feature of the Paperwhite.

The Marblue Atlas cover appears to be well made and durable enough to last for years of service. The faux leather looks good, and the stitching is uniform and tight. It doesn't have a magnetic lock like the Amazon cover has, but the elastic bungee will keep the cover securely closed when you're not reading. And the wide hand strap is a nice touch for hand-holding the Kindle.

But I have two concerns about this case:

AESTHETICS AND READING COMFORT:
This case is nearly perfect for my Paperwhite. It's lightweight, adding virtually nothing to the weight of the Kindle, yet protects it very well. The exterior material is soft and rather cushiony, making it comfortable to hold for extended periods. I've used it extensively for about two weeks, tossed it in my purse repeatedly, and it's not showing any signs of dirt or wear. The interior lining is a soft suede, which feels nice against your hand when opened and protects the screen when closed. The pattern and colors, both inside and out, are bold. The lining is hot pink/fuchsia. I had thought it was too bright and would be distracting while reading, but I quickly got used to it. The material that holds the Kindle itself is a stretchy polyester/neoprene. It definitely holds it securely, such that it could be a slight pain to take the Kindle in and out repeatedly. The four mesh fabric corners that hold the device in the case are remarkable. It takes a little doing at first to stretch them around the Kindle's corners, but once done, it's clear that the Kindle isn't going to fall out under any circumstance. No stringy elastic bands or brittle hooks here. The case feels like part of the device. The outside is lightly cushioned, and is edged with rubber. It's an unusual feel at first, but the result is that it's nearly impossible to drop by accident. Yet because the rubber is confined to the edging, the case doesn't feel like a huge rubber glove. Very happy with this purchase.

this Built case is awesome: kindle paperwhite fits snuggly, it does fold back for a one-hand holding (you can even use the strap for your hand, tho not advertised as such), it is thin but soft and solid enough to protect my kindle that has been dropped already, and it is lightweight! MUCH better than the marware juni (= my other choice) that has the same claims but is much more bulky and does not fold easily. i did not see this cover when i searched for covers until i actually received my kindle with the 30% discount on accessories (which did not include amazon's custom case... but i like this one's features even better!), so i am thrilled i found it! i'd recommend it to everyone.

I ordered this booklight with a reasonable amount of skepticism. In my past experience, booklights have been bulky, clunky, heavy, and they all seem to drain their batteries really quickly. Powerful little light but......
Light is bright and excellent illumination for the Kindle screen! If you don't travel a great deal, it's a delight for sleepers who have reading spouses! Have only rated it a 3-star because of a battery compartment design issue. We travel a great deal and there is no case nor protection for the on/off switch. Therefore, the light inadvertently gets turned on while in the bag, then has no battery life left when needed. To get around this problem, we must remove the batteries after each use and then re-install, which is time consuming and awkward. Please re-think the design and give us something more travel friendly.

While the Kindle is fairly simple to use and set up, for some of us more technically challenged (and our older relatives), there are some problems that can prove frustrating. From connecting to WiFi to setting up automatic storage on the Cloud, this guide was extremely useful for both me and my grandmother (new Kindle users).

The tone is professional, yet friendly. The language is simple and the explanations are patient. Because the review is quite inclusive (of various models and options), it sometimes begs to be skimmed, but it maintains a conciseness and clarity that I appreciated. I think some of the instructions would have benefited from screenshots or photographs, but their lack did not negatively affect my understanding of the issues at hand.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone switching over to the Kindle or to a different Kindle model!

2. Lots of basic errors, such as calling the paperwhite a COLOR display
It looks like someone took a book about Kindle Fire and tried to edit it into a book for the Paperwhite. But they left in lots of Fire-specific stuff such as the Silk browser.

A specific example is the beginning of Chapter 7, Installing and Launching Apps: "After setting up the Kindle Paperwhite, users can spend leisure time enjoying books and magazine on a high speed, full color display". The Kindle Paperwhite, of course, is a black and white e-ink display.

This chapter then goes on to explain how to install apps from the Amazon App Store -- which can't be used by the Paperwhite.

As with a lot of folks, my Kindle cable started falling apart after only a couple of years. The jacket material was cracking and falling off. The really strange part is I had used it the prior day and it was fine. However, the next day when I took it out to use it, the coating started falling off.

Jokes aside about there not being a kindle version of a kindle how-to book, this book is actually fairly well laid out and quite useful for people new to the kindle universe. If you've owned a kindle before a lot of its sections will be review (finding books to read is the same as always, you may already know about borrowing books, if you've had problems or had to troubleshoot something, contacting kindle support is no different than it was with your old device, etc). That's not to say that experienced users couldn't gain anything from this book, but my advice would be to play with your new kindle paperwhite for a bit and decide if there are features you don't understand.

For new users and specifically those who are a little more tech averse or want to avoid any and all frustration of learning a new device, this book is for you. The book is broken into 11 chapters as follows.

1. Protective, with Two Minor Design Flaws
Like a few others, I ordered this case after finding out about Kindle Touch. I wanted to take my kindle touch on a long, rough hiking trip (20 days), so I looked through the zippered covers carefully, and I ended up with this one.

Here are a few things I really enjoy about it:
1. This cover is very protective. To imitate the rough circumstances I might face on my trip, I have tried punching my fists together across one cover (not two), and a few punches don't hurt a lot. Through this test, I decided that my kindle touch will be safe from any reasonable collisions.
2. The zippers pull smoothly, much better than the zippers on my average clothes. So on my trip, I won't have to worry about breaking these zippers. The reason I'm so obsessed with zippers is that they keep most of the water (from rain and rivers) outside. I'm confident this cover will get the job done.
3. Most of the cover is fiber, not leather. I know a lot of people would prefer leather, but I...

2. You CAN Make This Case Work Better
One of the complaints about the Marware Jurni Kindle cases is that they don't lie flat. The solution appears to be running the zipper partially back once you open the case. The illustration in the Amazon listing even shows this.

However, when you look at other Marware products and read the reviews, you might come to the conclusion that the company doesn't always "get it". The reverse zipper trick is a bit of a "The dog ate my homework" excuse. If Marware had intended the case to work this way, they would have used the kind of zipper pulls that can be moved from one side of the slider to the other. My guess is that they designed it, has the cases made overseas, and when they got their hands on the production models, got that sinking feeling that comes with realizing you messed up.

You CAN make this case work properly and fold open without a lot of effort. Just take a sharp knife or good embroidery scissors and cut away the fake leather hinge piece. Work...

Just what I wanted...
I was looking for something that was durable and adequately protected my Kindle, and this works beautifully! As another reviewer pointed out, the cover doesn't stay open well, but if you bend it back and slightly zip the cover closed, the cover will stay open.
It's about 1 in. thick, but it's still small enough to fit in my purse. I'm very happy with this purchase!

EDIT: Since I've been using this with my new Kindle Touch, I've noticed that the cover is more flexible now and doesn't require me zipping it to stay open! Also, the side pocket (as other have pointed out) is pretty useless. I tried to put the power cord in there...no go. I can see how CC would fit, but honestly I would be scared I couldn't get them back out! I still give it 5 stars because it fits my Kindle Touch so well. I can turn it on and charge it without having to remove it from the cover.

Love Love Love this! I'm glad I read the reviews and believe I made the right choice spending the extra dollars and buying this case. Shuts off and turns on automatically when cover is opened or closed. Nice soft feel to the case. Kindle snaps right in. Stands up nicely. It costs a little more than the rest but well worth it. Why not do it right the first time and just buy this one. You'll be pleased with your purchase.

2. Fits Perfect. Origami idea is cute.
The case is pretty perfect. Fits the Kindle Fire HD (not HDX) 7" very snugly. All buttons work properly with no issue. Plenty of room for your headphone jack and mini usb jack. My only annoyance is that when using the cover/stand in portrait, it doesn't sit flush to the table which makes it tilt VERY slightly. For my OCD mind it throws me off. The origami folding cover takes some getting used to, but is a very cute/functional idea.

This is an outstanding cover. I love how it automatically puts my kindle fire into sleep mode when closed and wakes it up when opened. I love this case! I originally purchased the Marware Origin Cover, but it was a huge disappointment so I returned it and bought this instead. I was hesitant to spend so much on a case, but it's totally worth the price. It's great quality and fits snugly, but it's also light and compact (not at all bulky like I was afraid of). The cover is magnetized so it stays put, and unlike the Marware case the magnetized cover actually puts the Kindle to sleep and wakes it up when you close and open it. The origami design allows the Kindle to stand hands-free either horizontally or vertically, so it's very versatile. I am so happy I bought this case, I would recommend it to anyone.

I really debated on this case I have only ever used a book style cover in the past and often propped my Kindle for ease of use. The oragami cover holds my Kindle snuggly. It snapped right in for a perfect fit. The clever design does exactly as it says. No more cramped hands and awkward propping and using 2 hands to type is a nice change. Unique, but it works (edited)
I picked up this case locally. As of right, it works very well. The kindle snaps into the body and fits rather snug. The outside is very smooth and the lining feels soft. The design of the case is unique with the magnetic folding flaps. $45 can be pricey, but this is better than one of the cheaper cases.

Edited: After having this case for a week or so, I'm giving it 5 stars. Yes it's pricey, but for the money you're paying for great quality.

I know Amazon has a case coming out soon but did not want my new basic model Kindle to go naked. It is of high quality and fit s the new Kindle well. The straps on each corner are strong yet it is easy to place the Kindle into it. The straps have small pieces of leather sewn on them which looks nice. The case is sewn tightly and has no loose threads. The inside also has a handy hand strap so you can hold the Kindle with one hand. It also works to use one hand to hold it and use one finger to change pages. All in all I very pleased both with the looks and the function of this case.

UPDATE: Case is still holding firm with no issues.

One thing that has occurred to me is: This case works for either left or right handed folks. With the Kindle Basic having page turning bars on both sides and the cases ability to be used in either a right or left hand orientation that makes this case better than I first imagined. 2. Very nice case that fits Kindle 4 perfectly
After a couple week wait due to backordering, my brown Marware case arrived today. The case comes packaged in a brown paper envelope, which is similar to the Amazon "no frustration" packaging, so that was a nice surprise -- and easily recycleable!

The case is very nice. The leather is soft, it's nicely padded, and the stitching is very cleanly done and even. There is an elastic band, similar to what you'd find on a Moleskine, to hold the cover shut or open and folded around back. When you fold the cover around the back of the Kindle, there is an elastic hand strap that you can slide your hand into so you don't have to actually grasp the case/Kindle while reading.

I'm glad I waited for the brown colored case, as it looks very classy with the black elastic strap. So many things are just plain black these days, so having the reserved but attractive medium-dark brown color is nice.

First, let's not turn this into a debate about the price. Haven't we had enough of that nonsense with the book reviews? Below, is a detailed review of the PRODUCT itself, with just a minor comment on the price/value.

DESIGN:
This is Amazon's best designed cover to date. The kindle easily and securely snaps in place - there are no hinges or annoying elastic corner bands and all buttons and the power port are fully accessible. In addition, they removed all types of straps and cords. These were a problem on previous models for a number of reasons: they broke or snapped after regular use, they made the cover uncomfortable to hold, they added extra weight/bulk, and they were very unattractive. The front cover is weighted to stay closed when the kindle lies flat (it won't pop up). To be clear, there is no strap, clasp or magnet to secure it in place (just like the front flap of a hardcover book). Kindle users like myself were looking for two things: sleekness/thin fit...

2. Well made and elegant, with small caveat
I love the way the Kindle snaps into this case and fits perfectly--it is truly "Made for Kindle." I love that it adds so little weight, that my Verso clip-on light can clip right over it, that it opens fully so it can be held with the front folded fully back, that all the controls are flush with the edges of the cover.

But I do wish it had some sort of closure. I sewed some 1/8" elastic that I will use when I need it to positively stay shut. One star off for no closure (I'd remove only half a star if that were an option).

Now we come to the colors... Was some designer in the middle of a depression when the colors were chosen? Color taste is subjective, I know, but black, dead maroon, or jarring yellowish olive green? Not a cheerful tone in the bunch! How about a deep royal blue, forest green, or teal? Or even a rosy red? C'mon, Amazon!

Outstanding Look, Feel and Workmanship
I'm not going to go into a detailed description of the product as this was well done by other reviewers. I wanted to take the time to leave a very positive review for this product because the quality of this cover really impressed me. I was reluctant to spend $40 for a cover, too, but I took my chances and I'm so glad I did. The device fits perfectly in the hard rubber interior of the cover and won't move at all (in addition to being protected all around the edges, with openings for the USB/Power button and the page forward/back buttons on both sides of the device). The leather and stitches are beautifully finished and this cover really has a classy look and a secure feel. I am happy to say that I got what I paid for, in a good way! The cover doesn't add much weight to the device and can easily be held open for reading with one hand. I recommend spending a few extra bucks for this really nice accessory. Very detailed.
I love my Kindle, so I decided to get one for my elderly mother, a voracious reader. And it was a dud gift. She doesn't like all the new tech advances, so when she couldn't figure it out right away, she gave up. I searched and found this in the Amazon store, so I bought it for her. I managed to get her to read through it, and now she is willing to give the Kindle another try. So far she is getting used to it. I am hoping this will let us share more books. I have read through the book, and it gives a detailed explanation of everything the Kindle can do, and how to do it. I recommend it.

Sure, Amazon should have included one of these with the new Kindle Fires. I initially held off buying this as the pricing was $19.99, but relented when the price was $9.99 which puts it in line with non-Amazon branded charging adapters at a comparable power rating.

As a standalone charger, this one does pretty good and I like the versatility to charge other items with the USB female plug vs. something hardwired that allows me to charge other USB-type devices in addition to something that uses a micro USB port. I have used this charging plug to charge A Fire HD, original Fire, new Fire, Motorola RAZR phone, and <gasp> even an iPad2 with no problems.

Charging time is faster for a Kindle Fire vs. my regular e-Ink Kindle charger, but since I haven't - and rarely - fully drain one of my Fires I cannot comment on the "faster" aspect for charging a Fire: I just know it works, but it does seem to charge my phone mentioned above faster than the plug that came from...

2. Not appreciably faster than any other 1.8A charger
This is not appreciably faster than any other 1.8 or higher amp charger when used with my Kindle, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, various Android tablets, and other devices that have USB charging cables.

It also blocks an adjacent outlet. Why didn't they put the plug on the short end like the original black-and-white Kindle charger?

It is an exceptionally good deal when purchased together with a Kindle Fire HD on promotion, but the regular price is not competitive for a supposedly premium charger.

Additionally, it does not come with a cable, an omission that many people won't realize.

**EDIT** I appreciate the many comments, but Amazon promotes this charger as something that charges faster than other chargers, but I haven't seen any such advantage. At promotional prices, it's a good deal, but not at almost twenty dollars. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Finally received the Kindle Lighted Leather Cover for the newest version Kindle. It is VERY lightweight and I had to double and triple check the description considering it states this is a leather cover. The front cover is very thin with a medium-weight cardboard feel to it. The "leather" on the front cover is extremely thin and you can immediately tell the surface will be easily scratched and marred with normal everyday use. The inside of the front cover has a thin microfiber material to protect the screen. The back cover is hollowed out plastic to form-fit your Kindle and snaps in with relative ease.

Using the enclosed graphic instruction card, I removed the Kindle as shown, having to use just enough pressure to make me a bit concerned for someone who would place and remove their Kindle in this cover frequently. However, I plan on using this cover as a full-time solution for both protection and as a light source.

2. A Step Down In Quality
I owned a Kindle Keyboard for about a year, and I purchased the leather lighted case for that unit. While the corner light left a little to be desired as far as even lighting, overall I was very pleased with the case. Based on that experience, I went ahead and purchased the lighted cover for my new Kindle. I can't say this experience has as been as positive.

Let's start off with what's good about the case. The Kindle battery powered light is a big improvement. The light is now centered on the screen, so illumination is more even now. I don't use the light often, but in the cases where I do it will be nice to have more balanced coverage. One positive on the case itself is that I appreciate how much lighter this one feels than the previous generation. The hinge area is smaller, which means less of the "spine folding" effect the other one took on after heavy use. I never took my Kindle Keyboard out of the case after it was put in, so the snug fit I have seen complaints about...

I have had the Kindle Keyboard with it's lighted cover and now I have the new Kindle with lighted cover. I will briefly compare them and then list the pros and cons of this cover.

In comparison:
-The kindle keyboard in the cover is much heavier than the new kindle in it's cover. The new case does a much better job of securing the kindle as well, it is no longer hinged only on one edge, but instead it is form fit inside of a rigid rubber shell that attaches to the back of the new kindle

-The lighting is about the same between both cases, but where the old case lit the screen from the top right corner, the new case lights the screen from the top middle.

-I feel like the old light mechanism was more durable. The light bar on this cover is made out of very stiff, thin plastic instead of the thick rubbery plastic that contained the light on the old cover. It also hinges open instead of pulling out of the case, and the hinge feels subpar...

What is important is whether or nor the Kindle is secure in this case and the answer is an unequivocal YES. It's true that the Kindle is held in by for straps at the corners as opposed to the super sturdy insert of the Amazon cover however, I can assure you, there's not an eskimo's chance in hell that the Kindle is going to fall out of this cover accidentally.

Buy it for the design
This case is well made and has a nice velvet interior. The front has an embossed picture, which is nicer than one that's just printed on. But aside from that, there's not much special about it. The inside has four anchors, as is typical for this type of case. The top anchors are bit nicer than what many cases have. They use the same material as the bottom anchors but with elastic bands underneath. That makes it much easier to take the Kindle in and out of the case compared to many competing brands. It also lets the cover sit more evenly when closed.

The Paperwhite isn't designed for a magnetic case, nor does it have the need for an external reading light, so there aren't any frills, nor are there any frills needed or features missing. Since the price is clearly stated for the product, I won't say whether the case is worth the price. If it's pricey at the time you see this, compared to other cases, you will have to decide what you want to spend for the particular design. But...

1. What a Great Download
I have a classical studies degree and I must say one of my favorite translations of the bible is the ESV. Not only is it a tight translation, but it also keeps much of the unique sentence structure and flow I so relish in the classical languages.

I must admit that I was very very surprised with this book.
First off it was free so I expected nothing more than a bible that I would have to infinitely scroll through or search to find what I wanted. (However this in not the case) The book and chapter selection is nice and with a couple of clicks on the next page button you can easily get to where you want)

I was also surprised that the book includes footnote links to the measurements and other footnotes. What a great feature. (So if you are wondering how many feet in those cubits simply select the link and find out!)

All in all WAY more than I ever expected in a free book. I definitely did not expect to find such a wonderful version for free...

2. Meh...
I'm leaving this review online for historical reasons. The navigation features i mentioned below are not included in the most current version as of June 2013. I'm leaving 4 stars because it's an adequate translation and it's free, which is the Right Thing to do with Bibles.

If you are looking for a Bible with easy navigation, the only one i'm aware of is the King James version by Osnova. Bible (KJV) (best navigation with Direct Verse Jump; paragraphed)

An excellent Bible and navigation
I have no complaints whatever regarding the translation of this Bible. It's eminently readable, retaining the dignity of the language even while seeking greater clarity.
Regarding the Kindle version, the navigation is easy and straightforward, though not as sophisticated as the TNIV, which has navigation straight to each book, chapter, and verse.
The only complaint I have for both versions is that you can't tell what book you're in. I like to read the Bible from the beginning of the old and the beginning of the new testaments simultaneously. It's very easy to forget what book you're currently in, and there's no way to tell which one it is unless you page back to the beginning of the book and check. If you select "Go to beginning" on the menu, it takes you to the Table of Contents, not to the beginning of, say, Luke.

Other reviewers have said that you don't get the whole magazine when you get the Kindle edition, but this actually isn't true so I thought I would clarify. The issue here is with the layout of the Kindle edition. For the Kindle, you lose the magazine format and everything is instead linear like a book. The first 20 pages or so are reader comments and summaries of blog posts from the online edition. I imagine in the print edition it is more clear that this is just a discussion section (I don't currently subscribe to print so I can't say), but on the Kindle it reads as if you are just getting condensed articles. If you just stop here without reading on, it really will feel like you're not getting the full magazine. The real content, however, is still there! You just have to use the directional pad to skip the first few sections - same navigation system as found on the Wall Street Journal kindle edition, if you've ever used that. 2. My wishes were granted !
I am wondering why wasn't the HBR on Kindle a long time back ! This is one of the perfect examples of a Kindle use. I have had 2-3 years of HBR subscription (physical) and it's such a bother storing them.

I would request / urge / plead the HBR folks to:

- remove all user/ reader reviews from the initial pages ! It's a huge distraction !

- To look at ways and means to improve the look and feel of the subscription on the Kindle. It's 6 dollar an issue and the kindle copy shouldn't be any less than the physical copy for an easy read.

It`s the full contents of HBR's magazine print edition
Having seen different reviews here both to the opinion that the Kindle edition of this magazine was and wasn't the full contents of the print edition, I took the trouble to compare the kindle and print editions article by article, and can assure it IS the full contents.
That said, it's maybe the best management magazine around. There are always insightful articles by top management gurus. It's a pity however that so much of the contents are focused in big business and so little in small and medium companies management. But that doesn't change the quality of its contents.

It's doing its job. My only complaints are that it's still a little misshapen from when I initially put it on the Kindle (just a little on the sides that won't go back to shape), and it's very hard to clean since the SportGrip graps dust as well. I would still recommend because there really isn't an alternative that I've found on Amazon for a cover that doesn't have a flap of some kind.

It's a perfect fit for the Paperwhite. I really love the look and the feel of this silicone skin. I went without a cover for a bit until I finally found this one, and it was worth the wait. wow. I usually don't write reviews because I'm indifferent, but I can't stay quiet after that. My Kindle got smashed in an earthquake and I put off calling in the claim because I dreaded haggling with someone I can't understand and making them do what the warranty said they would. I worried for nothing. They were kind, didn't argue with me, and I was on the phone for less than 10 minutes. Best of all, I will have a replacement Kindle in 2 days. 2 DAYS!!!! No haggling, no misunderstanding, no long explanations. They just said they were sorry it happened and they are sending me a new one! I will always use squaretrade for my future warranties, and I suggest everyone else does too!

2. Outstanding service of Square Trade Insurance & Amazon
When my husband damaged his kindle by dropping it on the floor when he fell asleep, we ordered a new kindle to replace it not knowing how long it would take to get the damaged kindle fixed or replaced. We were going to be leaving on a trip in three days and wanted to take it with us. We ordered a 2 day delivery on the new kindle. To our surprise, when we spoke to Square Trade, they offered quick delivery. The replacement kindle arrived in the morning before we left and the new kindle arrived in the afternoon of the same day. We were very pleased with both Square Trade and Amazon.

No Kindle yet - but real experience with SquareTrade
While I haven't yet received my Kindle, I can tell you that I will spend the extra money to purchase an extended warranty from SquareTrade. The reason is simple. SquareTrade works. I have purchased extended warranties through this company for a number of items because it's an inexpensive way to guarantee your electronics will be "saved" if anything untoward might happen. My real experience is this: I purchased a washing machine rated #1. I did a lot of research and thought I had the cream of the crop. I purchased a SquareTrade warranty just as a matter of course upon purchasing a new electronics item (and the new washing machines ARE electronic).

Lo and behold, my washing machine crapped out three - count 'em, THREE - times within 18 months with the exact same issue.

1. Perfect for new Kindle!
Excellent case, fits the Kindle very nicely. Snug, but not too snug to make it tough to fit the Kindle into. Case itself is VERY light and thin, picking it up with the Kindle in it, you almost feel like there can't be anything in there, since the Kindle is so light too.

Feels like there might be a touch of extra space on the side in order to accommodate the Kindle Touch, which is slightly larger than the new Kindle. Nevertheless it feels like the case was designed just for the new Kindle without touch, it fits very well.

The inside material is soft and a bit spongy, and feels like it will offer good protection for the Kindle. I feel comfortable tossing this in a bag or backpack without worrying about damaging the Kindle.

Zipper goes around 2 sides only, and works very smoothly. Great case!

2. The new home for my Kindle (when it's not in my hand)
There's nothing terribly fancy going on here, but that's what I like about this sleeve for the latest Kindle. It's nice-looking (some might even say handsome), but more importantly, it seems designed to mirror the no-frills Kindle it's protecting: it's slender, impossibly light, comfortable, and free of unnecessary bells and whistles.

Did I mention how light it is--even with the Kindle inside? Last night, I went to grab my Kindle Keyboard, housed inside its lighted cover, and I almost had to laugh at how heavy that one suddenly felt. No offense, of course, to Kindle Keyboard owners. ;)

I decided on the graphite-colored sleeve since it seems sort of masculine and rugged on the outside but has a nice, uplifting splash of color on the inside. (Surprise!) The spongy, tactile material within seems more than capable of protecting my Kindle from most abrasions and minor day-to-day jostling, which seems to happen to me a lot.

I've read a lot of the other reviews for this item and I'm not sure why people don't love this case as much as I do. Maybe it's because this is exactly the kind of case I was looking for and others are looking for more of the book style case? All I needed was something to protect my Kindle when I throw it in my backpack and this does quite well. I'd personally recommend it to anyone that is just looking for protection while transporting their Kindle in another bag/backpack/large purse!

3 stars only because of the circumstances. The kindle I ordered was a pre-order. I could get this 2 year protection plan at the time of order only. However, the pre-ordered Kindle was not due to get to me until about 6 weeks later. The timing on sending this & starting it should be sequenced with the receipt of the item & not from the purchase date. Having a friend who has used this plan twice with her kindle, I think it will be a good plan to have but I feel cheated that I will have about 6 weeks of it gone before I even get the kindle.

It is almost impossible to use a manual for a reader that it references, since one is then reading on the device about how to use the device. Nice Tablet with Sharp Display
To sum up what I will tell you about in the details below, for $229 you are getting a good deal on a tablet computer - especially if you compare it to the $199 for last year's first-generation Fire HD and the $500 or more you can spend on a Wi-Fi version of the iPad. Overall, if you consider the price and the functionality I think this is a great tool / toy if you watch a lot of video or play a lot of games on your device: the video quality is outstanding and you can really tell a difference between this and the new HD Fire. If you are a first-time tablet buyer, where price vs. value is a key consideration, or if you are looking for an affordable tablet for the kids, I'd recommend the "regular" Kindle Fire HD that is only $139. If you're comparing last year's HD model to this version and it is operating fine, I'd say save your money and continue to get your money's worth out of that one.

2. Damaged Kindle
The Verso Prologue Antique Cover is beautiful and it fit my Kindle Touch very well. However, after a couple of months, I took it out only to find that it had permanently stained the back of my Kindle black. This is extremely unfortunate since the primary reason I bought the case was to protect it from damage. Granted the damage is aesthetic, but it is damage nonetheless. I'm afraid I can't recommend this case until this issue is resolved.

***UPDATE***

Customer service was prompt... After emailing Lightwedge about the issue, they responded that this is a known issue and that they would send me a replacement with a plastic insert to prevent color transfer as well as a discount on my next purchase.

This is good, but what of the ones still on the shelves? At the least, there should be some sort of recall or notification that would warn of potential damage to the customer's reader and steps to mitigate it.

So glad I waited!
When I bought my Kindle Touch (my first Kindle), I wanted to purchase a cover for it as well. None of the available ones appealed to me, however; so I decided to wait. I'm so glad I did! The Verso Prologue Cover in red is just beautiful, and it looks great with the Dark Burlwood "skin" I had gotten earlier. (And by the way, it definitely does not have an odor!)

I was quite excited to see these create your own Kindle cases for the Fire & Paperwhite models. The reality doesn't quite live up to the hype.

I don't know about the Fire cases--the only one I've seen seemed fairly smooth--but the current Paperwhite case has a very heavy, almost diamond-patterned texture to the leather. The printing, surprisingly, does show on it, even in the deeper crevices of the leather. Given that they were dealing with some very fine lines in the image I used, I'm impressed that the print shows no breaks or gaps from the texture.

That said, the texture will detract from almost anything other than an abstract image, in my opinion. Put a photo of a person on there, and they'll look like they have a skin disease. So your choice of image is going to be critical to whether or not you enjoy the final result, at least specifically on this case.

Next problem: Amazon's previewer, showing you how the image will look on the case, is wrong. I...

2. What You See is Not What You Get
As others have said, the grain of the leather in the Paperwhite cover really distorts any image (unless you choose something abstract). The preview does not show this (I used a family picture that looked great in the preview, yet we all look pretty horrible in the final product because of the grain of the leather). Very disappointed. Also the cropping was not the way I indicated it in my order, with large black bars at the top and bottom of the image. Not recommended.

Not as Pictured, Not as Expected
Not at all happy with this Kindle cover. All the images on the product information page show the custom image covering the entire cover area. The case I received has a gap more than half an inch wide at both the top and bottom of the cover. It looks terrible. The preview images provided also do not show how clearly the leather cover's texture will show through the image. This just adds to how bad it looks. You can barely make out the image I used. I'm terribly disappointed in this product and am returning it immediately.

2. A 4.5 star tablet (Updated)
First off, I would like to say this tablet is a great deal for just $139.99. I tried finding a tablet for under 100$ that would just work properly, just to let you know it's impossible. First, I want to tell you how I decided to buy this tablet.

I first bought the 9 inch Dragon touch tablet for 78$ but to be blunt it sucked. It was so slow that the web browser would always freeze, even if I did a simple Google search. I did not want to take a chance with it anymore and returned it after 2 days of using it; then decided to give the kindle fire HD a chance.

Exterior: The exterior is well built. No loose pieces, and the plastic is very firm. My previous cheap tablet had plastic that felt it was going to snap if you held it too hard. This new KFHD replaces last year's basic Kindle Fire. Although it has some cool new features, it lacks a camera, microphone, and HDMI port. For this reason, I'm glad I kept my 2012 model since it does have these 3 features!

Here are my initial impressions of the 2013 Kindle Fire HD: I like the placement of the on/off & volume buttons. Being on opposite sides makes it unlikely to hit the wrong one. I never cared for the carousel (this is what you see when you turn your Kindle on and it contains all the books & apps you have recently accessed), and now there's an option to have favorites showing on the home screen instead, and the apps/books can be rearranged to your liking. I was very surprised that web pages can no longer be placed in the favorites bar (which is now being called "home").
